Volunteer With FALPT

Volunteering is at the heart of our land trust — and we need to partner with you to help steward our shared lands so people and animals can enjoy the wilderness and engage with nature.

The Fairhaven Acushnet Land Preservation Trust relies on volunteers to maintain trails, manage vegetation, monitor environmental conditions, and perform the ongoing stewardship that keeps our protected properties healthy, safe, and accessible.

As a small nonprofit organization, we simply cannot do this work alone. Every hour you give directly strengthens our ability to protect and care for the natural spaces that make Fairhaven, Acushnet and surrounding towns special. Please consider partnering with us to do something special for your community and neighbors!

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering doesn't just help the land — it's good for you, too. Research shows that giving your time to a cause you care about has measurable benefits for mental and physical well-being.

For the Land:

Stewardship That Matters

Our volunteers maintain trails, clear invasive vegetation, monitor wildlife habitats, and help keep FALPT properties safe and accessible for the public. Without volunteers, many of these tasks simply wouldn't get done.

By giving your time, you're directly contributing to the protection and care of the natural spaces that define our community — ensuring they remain healthy and thriving for future generations.

For You:

Health, Purpose & Community

Volunteering directly improves mental health by reducing depression, lowering stress, and increasing life satisfaction. Spending time outdoors in nature has been shown to boost mood, improve focus, and reduce anxiety.

It's also a great way to meet like-minded neighbors, learn new skills, and experience the satisfaction of seeing the tangible results of your work on the land.

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, things aren’t going to get better. They’re NOT!”

— Dr. Seuss

Why Your Help Matters

As a community-based land trust, FALPT relies on the dedication of volunteers to help fulfill its mission of protecting and stewarding the natural landscapes of Fairhaven, Acushnet, and surrounding communities. From coastal marshes and working farmland to quiet woodland trails, the properties we protect require ongoing care to remain healthy, safe, and accessible for everyone to enjoy. Through volunteer efforts, FALPT is able to maintain these special places and ensure they remain protected for generations to come.

Volunteering also offers personal rewards. Research consistently shows that volunteering improves mental health by reducing depression, lowering stress, and increasing life satisfaction. Spending time outdoors in nature adds even more benefits, including improved mood, better focus, and reduced anxiety. It’s an opportunity to connect with your neighbors, learn about local ecology, and see the direct impact of your efforts on the land.
