Who We Are
Fairhaven Acushnet Land Preservation Trust
The Fairhaven Acushnet Land Preservation Trust is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1992 to protect the natural landscapes of Fairhaven, Acushnet, and neighboring communities.
We are dedicated stewards of the land, committed to conserving open spaces, protecting natural resources, and preserving wildlife habitat for the benefit of both people and nature.
Our work is inspired by the stewardship practices of the region's Native peoples, whose deep understanding of the land emphasized conservation, sustainability, and the responsible use of natural resources.
Preserving the integrity of our landscapes while restoring and promoting biodiversity is at the heart of our mission.
Through the dedication of our staff, volunteers, members, and supporters, we are protecting the region's unique natural areas and fostering a community that values conservation.
Together, we are ensuring that these special places remain healthy, accessible, and thriving for current and future generations.
We believe simple places matter
We believe in protecting and preserving the beautiful, unique landscapes that define our local communities for the benefit of both people and wildlife.
Approach One:
Preserve Local Lands
Our mission is simple: safeguard open space before it is lost to development, overdevelopment, or neglect, ensuring these special places remain protected for future generations.
Approach Two:
Stewardship, Accessibility, and Community
We believe conserved land should be enjoyed by everyone. By creating welcoming spaces for walking, exploring, and connecting with nature, we help strengthen the bond between our communities and the environment. Our volunteers help to maintain FALPT properties.
Our commitment also extends beyond conservation. We partner with local organizations on community initiatives, including supporting volunteer efforts at the former Keith’s Farm in Acushnet, where fresh produce is grown and distributed to local food pantries to help feed families in need.
